Dr. Penny Sartori was an ICU nurse for 17 years before she had an experience with one of her patients that drew her to the field of research relating to near-death experiences (NDE’s), of which she was awarded her PhD as a result. She continues to speak at conferences both nationally and internationally on the subject, and her work has inspired Physicians to re-examine their thoughts and practices surrounding medical treatment of ICU patients and end-of-life care.
Her work also served as inspiration for Director Clint Eastwood in making the movie, Hereafter starring Matt Damon. In Hereafter, people having their own near-death experiences connect with their deceased relatives. Matt Damon plays a reluctant psychic who helps people communicate with them.
