DIY Infrared Lighting

**Notes: This project can be done for $15 - $20 depending on where you shop, and if you already have the tools you need.  The supplies listed below may be found cheaper on other websites like ebay if you're willing to bid on items and/or wait for delivery from China (typically 4-6 weeks).  While the "Supplies Needed" list is an exact match to the items I used, the "Tools Needed" and "Other Items Needed" sections may not be identical to those seen in the video, and in some cases, I have provided additional options.  Please feel free to send me any questions you might have!  

Supplies Needed (Affiliate links listed below)

  1. 5”x 2.5”x 1.7” Plastic Project Box
  2. 2 x  2 1/8” Round Board 24*LED Lamps
  3. 2 x SPST Mini Toggle Switch 10A 125V
  4. 2 x 9V Battery Holder Cases w/ Wire Leads
  5. 2 x 9V Batteries
  6. Hot Shoe Mount or ¼” Camera Mount

Tools Needed (Affiliate Links Listed Below)

  1. Needle-nose Pliers
  2. Soldering Iron
  3. 2” Circular Drill Bit (and Drill)
  4. ¼” Drill Bit 
  5. Tweezers (comes with Soldering Iron kit listed below)
  6. Wire Strippers
  7. Sharpie
  8. Super Glue (or hot glue/gun) 

Other Items Needed (Affiliate Links Listed Below)

  1. Camera with IR Filter Removed
    1. I used SJ4000 - non-wifi model, but couldn't find one to link to - link below is wifi model
    2. I also followed THIS VIDEO to do my IR conversion
  2. Tripod and/or Camera Mounting Bracket (a couple options listed below)
  3. Optional hand-held IR torch for seeing longer distances outside
